Dancing with the Star
This is Tsion in my dad’s rocking chair from his childhood. Pretty cool story. My dad’s mother (my grandmother) traded two chickens for this chair back in Arkansas when he was a kid. It is very special that my dad gave this to Tsi Tsi. Love you so much Mom and Dad!!
So I guess you are wondering what is going on in this next picture, right? Well, Tsion LOVES music and loves to dance. She will bounce and sing to just about anything, the ABC song to disco to traditional Ethiopian music. We haven’t exposed her to a lot of TV and she hasn’t really shown much interest (which is good). BUT, she really likes the Backyardigans, mainly for the music and dancing. She gets so excited when I put it on and gets right in front of the TV and just bounces, spins and sings. I’m not sure why but she decided this day to put a green blow up ring (from her pool) on her head. I’m sure video would be better here but I still think this is so hilarious. She is such a character, really.
General update… We went to the pediatrician yesterday. Tsion is doing great. She is healthy and has gained 1.5 pounds and grew ¼ of an inch in the last month! That is great news. She still has a way to go but is moving up toward the curve in all areas (now and 19.5 pounds). We figured she HAD to be gaining weight as she is eating so much. I mean really she is eating all day long. At first she had an obsession with bananas (ate 5 one day!) but now has expanded and has a love for cheese, crackers, cereal bars etc. She really eats just about anything, including some very adult food. She tried and loved gorgonzola cheese, goat cheese, hummus, guacamole, lentils. As John says, we didn’t eat some of these foods until we were in our 20s!!!
Tsion is also talking up a storm. She now says between 30-40 words in English and seems to be learning new ones everyday. She’s not yet combining words (has a couple of times) but I don’t think it will be long. She repeats almost everything we say. She really is a happy kid. She has such a vibrant personality and is SO cute I could just eat her up!!
Other random things… She loves the animals now and calls for Abby and ZoZo all the time now. They are doing good with her too but they really don’t like her pulling on their tail or legs. We are working on ‘easy’ touching. Tsi Tsi also has a friend, Julia. She is the daughter of our friends and neighbors. She is a bit older than Tsion but loves her the same. Tsi Tsi calls Julia by name and was holding her hand and pulling her around the house last night. Too cute. Let’s see… We enrolled Tsion in school this week—she will start at the end of June. It is a neighborhood church school and we think it will be great for her. The school comes highly recommended and we love that it is in our neighborhood.
I think that is it for now! We are all doing great. Mom is still adjusting to chasing a toddler around all day but is doing better. Still can’t get anything done though!!!
I am so excited to see some other families from our agency in Ethiopia right now meeting their children for the first time. I have to say, minus the horrific flight, I am a bit jealous. Ethiopia was so great and I would love to go back sometime soon.

Project Toddler - Week 2
So I'm late, I know, its like week four or something. What can I say, this parenting thing takes a good bit of your day! Pretend like this post was from two weeks ago when we went to the zoo - yippie!
Tsi Tsi learned a new word: wooooowwwww!!!! You are supposed to say it when you turn the corner and there's an Indian Elephant looking at you. We saw monkeys (Mommy's terms for apes, chimpazees and Orangutangs), tigers, bears, birds, reptiles and fish. I mentioned it was the zoo, yes? She was great - we spent 40 minutes getting there and 4.5 hours in the sun before she crapped out in her stroller. Cool kid.
Sequarium was week 3 - you guys cant wait, can you?!

Shhhh.......

Don't tell John I posted these. He is usually on the other side of the camera and hates to see pics of himself. But, I thought these were just adorable. Yes, they will be framed for my office. The girl loves her daddy that's for sure. Tsi Tsi is doing so great. We will give an update on weeks 2 & 3 shortly I promise!!
